Dear Governor DeSantis,
As your constituent, I'm very concerned that the Florida legislature just passed the controversial bill SB 7030, which would expand the Guardian program to arm Florida teachers – and divert education funds from other proven school safety measures.
An overwhelming body of evidence indicates that arming teachers puts children and the school community at a greater risk of gun violence in our schools.
SB 7030 would also impede the response of law enforcement to an active shooter incident. For this reason, law enforcement, educators, students, and parents across Florida oppose this measure.
Please VETO SB 7030 and oppose any measures that would arm school teachers.
